Week 1 Reflections

This week I told my demo lesson group that I love writing, but I have come to hate teaching writing. This year I have felt like all I have done is teach students how to take the ADAW. I want to engage my students in authentic writing with passing the ADAW as a byproduct of that instead of using the ADAW to get my students to write. Already this week my faith has been restored in teaching writing. The ideas I've already gained are invaluable, and we haven't even gotten to the demo lessons yet! I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer holds. I know that it will be refreshing for both my teaching and my soul!
